Frequently Asked Questions

With good hygiene and bite protection, porcelain veneers typically last 10–15 years, often longer. The bond and the porcelain itself are extremely durable. The most common cause of veneer failure is grinding without a nightguard.

Traditional veneers are not reversible — a small amount of enamel is removed during preparation. Some cases qualify for minimal-prep or no-prep veneers, which are more conservative. We discuss the tradeoffs honestly at consultation before any tooth structure is touched.

Porcelain itself doesn’t stain — that’s one of its advantages over bonding. Coffee, wine, and tea will not discolor the veneer surface. The edges where porcelain meets natural tooth can pick up stain over many years; routine hygiene maintains the color.

It depends on your smile line. Most cases involve the front 6, 8, or 10 teeth — whatever shows when you smile broadly. We never recommend more teeth than necessary. A single chipped or discolored tooth can often be addressed with one veneer.

Traditional porcelain veneers are crafted in a lab over 2–3 weeks for the best esthetic result. We use temporary veneers during that window so you’re never without a finished smile. For some cases, same-day CEREC ceramic restorations can be an alternative.
