Frequently Asked Questions

Crowns commonly last 10 to 15 years, and many last longer with good home care and regular checkups. Longevity depends on things like bite forces, grinding/clenching, the amount of remaining tooth structure, and daily habits. Our goal is a crown that looks natural, feels comfortable, and holds up for the long run.
Getting a crown should not be painful. We numb the area thoroughly, so you may feel pressure, but not sharp pain. Afterward, it’s normal to have mild sensitivity or soreness for a few days, especially if the tooth was already irritated. If anything feels “off” with your bite, we’ll adjust it quickly.
In many cases, yes. With CEREC technology, we can often design and place a crown in a single visit, which means no temporary crown and fewer appointments. Not every tooth is a one-day case, but we’ll tell you upfront what’s possible for your situation.
Most crowns today are made from strong, tooth-colored materials like porcelain or ceramic. The best material depends on where the tooth is in your mouth, your bite, and aesthetic goals. We’ll recommend what will look natural and hold up to how you actually use your teeth.
